Candlelight Vigil for Haiti
Mar 25, 2010 - On March 25th, the University of Windsor student group ‘Help Dis’Place’ will hold a Candlelight Vigil. Students, faculty, staff & members of the Windsor & Essex County Community are encouraged to attend to show their support for the many victims of January’s earthquake in Haiti. The Vigil will commence at 7:00PM outside the CAW building on the University of Windsor campus. Candles will be sold for $2.00 each, and additional donations will be accepted throughout the evening. Following the vigil, a group of U of Windsor students will participate in the ‘Help Dis’Place’ event, and will displace themselves in the middle of campus for 24h in an act of solidarity with the 200 000 internally displaced persons currently struggling in Haiti. All proceeds from the Candlelight Vigil & funds raised by students participating in Help Dis’Place will go towards sponsoring internally displaced persons in Haiti through local NGO Hearts Together for Haiti.
