Messiaens Quartet for the End of Time
Nov 16, 2008 - In 2008, the music world celebrates the centennial of the French composer Olivier Messiaen. Such diverse elements as Gregorian chant, Hindu rhythms, bird-song and his own colour sense combine in his unusual and fascinating music. Hear a rare performance of his most popular work, the Quartet for the End of Time, written in 1941 when he was a prisoner of war in Germany.
