UWindsor student earns medal at Paralympics

University of Windsor student Stefanie Reid set a Canadian record and earned the bronze medal in the women’s 200 metres at the Paralympic Games in Beijing. Reid ran the race in 28.85 seconds for her first career Paralympic medal.
“I’m glad I finished on a high note,” said Reid, who was disappointed with her earlier performance in the long jump. “The long jump was my main focus and I was gunning for the medal. I was just too aggressive and was all over the place.”
Reid is coached by Lancer track and field assistant head coach Brett Lumley, who made the trip to Beijing. Monday she will compete in her final event at these Games, the women’s 100 metres.
